FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Upscaling runs entirely in your browser — your files never leave your device. You can verify zero network requests in DevTools.
How does browser upscaling work?
ImageConverter uses Lanczos-class resampling (the pica library compiled for the browser) which preserves edges far better than the default canvas scaling.
Is there a size limit?
Output is capped at about 24 megapixels to stay within browser memory limits. For very large photos, use 2x instead of 4x.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, and ICO — including iPhone HEIC photos, decoded right in your browser.
Is this tool free?
